Lauren Oak, Certified Postpartum Doula, Birth Doula, Certified Lactation Counselor, Gentle Sleep Coach

I am based on Long Island, NY and service all of Long Island, Queens, Brooklyn and Manhattan.

I possess a Bachelors Degree in Social Science and a Masters Degree in School Counseling. In my previous life, I was a Foster Care Caseworker for 7 years and a Guidance Counselor. I am also an active contributor and writer for Twiniversity.

Expecting parents are sometimes nervous about the process of labor. As your birth doula I can help you create a birth plan, and provide emotional, physical and informational support.

New parents are sometimes nervous and confused. As a Postpartum Doula, let me help you transition into your new role as parents during those first days and weeks home with your baby. I offer day and overnight hours, as needed. I have experience with preemies/NICU graduates and families with multiples. I provide a wide range of services from breastfeeding support, general baby care, running errands, organizing your house, bottle preparation, light meal preparation, laundry and referrals as needed.

Breastfeeding is not always easy for some new parents. Let me help you make it as easy a process as possible with my guidance and education.

Sleep is a constant subject that comes up when speaking with parents. With my guidance we can set up a proper sleep environment to set the stage for sleep success.

Fees vary depending on location and need for travel and services provided. Contact me to schedule an initial consultation to discuss you and your baby’s needs.

Services

Birth Support

A birth doula provides physical, emotional, and informational support to expectant mothers before, during, and after childbirth. They help create a positive birth experience by offering comfort measures, such as breathing techniques and pain relief options. Doulas also serve as advocates for the mother's wishes ensuring her preferences are respected during labor. Ultimately, their goal is to empower and support families throughout the birthing process.

Postpartum Support

As your postpartum doula, I provide support to help adjust to life with a new baby. I offer emotional support, practical assistance with infant care, and guidance on breastfeeding and self-care for the new parent. I can also help with household tasks, allowing you to focus on bonding with your newborn. My goal is to promote a healthy, nurturing environment for both the baby and parents.

Lactation Consultations

As a Certified Lactation Counselor I provide support and guidance to breastfeeding parents by offering assistance with breastfeeding techniques, address common challenges, eduation on how to use a breast pump, proper breastmilk storage and help establish a successful breastfeeding journey.

I offer in home and hospital visits as needed.

Gentle Sleep Coaching

My gentle sleep coaching approach will allow your child to learn how to fall asleep, and stay asleep all night, on their own without leaving them to cry it out.
